JULY NEWSLETTER 2020

OUR WEBINAR WAS AN IMPACTFUL ONE!

The three-day webinar which was held on 28th to 30th July 2020 was also highly informative, inspiring and engaging. The webinar was aimed at empowering youths with essential insights and practical career tips for their professional development, especially valuable at this critical time where many more Nigerians are out of jobs and unsure of their future as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar was attended by hundreds of youths across Nigeria and Africa, and was a series of master sessions with seasoned experts in different specialities. These specialities included Youth Entrepreneurship, Development, Careers, Health, Finance and Law. It was moderated by Rotimi Olawale, the CEO of YouthHub Africa and our founder, Kiki James.

Tengi George-Ikoli used stories and examples to highlight the importance of goal-setting, being your own brand and the importance of facing one’s fears to achieve career success. This was followed by an inspiring story told by Henry Oji of his academic challenges as a child and how he turned his passion for drawing to a successful career in photography.

On Day 2, attendees learnt the importance of being valuable and valued in an organization from Crystal Ikanih-Musa; how to have a successful public health career from Mariya Saleh; and the importance of exploring new things to find one’s path from Tolu Ogunlesi. They also learnt how essential it is to map one’s career path and stick to that map from our Keynote Speaker, Mr Henry Adigun.

On the final day of the webinar, Kehinde Fanimokun taught our attendees the importance of resilience, consistency and fearlessness, while Abubakar Abdullahi gave our attendees valuable lessons on entrepreneurship, knowing when to quit and how to harness opportunities. Finally, Hamzat Lawal inspired the attendees with the story of his journey into activism and the importance of integrity.

Overall, over 180 attendees drew lessons and values from the speakers’ stories, success and challenges. We remain grateful to our speakers and attendees for making the webinar a successful one.
