Married Adolescents & Adolescent
Mothers Advocacy (MAAMA)

ACE Charity Africa

About the Project

Across communities in northern Nigeria, many adolescent girls are forced to drop out of school due to early marriage, teenage pregnancy or related barriers.

With support from Malala Fund, we are supporting married adolescents and adolescent mothers in Kano and Adamawa states to go back to school. We are advocating for their right to an education, and supporting their journey to find strength, confidence, and the courage to dream again. Our work ensures that these girls have safe, flexible, and supportive pathways to return to education.

Why this Matters

When a girl continues her education:

  • Her future income increases
  • Her child’s health and learning outcomes improve
  • Her child’s vulnerability to child marriage decreases
  • She gains confidence and life skills
  • She becomes an inspiration to others
  • Her community benefits

Education gives her choices—and those choices change everything

Support Her Return to Learning

With the right support, they can continue their education, build confidence, and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.

What Your Support Provides

Your contribution helps remove the everyday barriers that prevent girls from accessing education. Support may cover:

  • Transportation
  • Learning materials
  • Childcare support
  • Uniforms
  • Examination fees
  • Basic supplies
  • Vocational skill training
  • Start up capital

Even small, consistent support can determine whether a girl stays in the classroom.

How You Can Help

Help provide the essentials she needs to return to learning and stay committed.

Hear From the Girls

“Before, I thought that I will never go back to school again, my school journey has stopped. But now I know I will go back to school and I will be what I want to be God’s willing I want to be a doctor.”

“I didn’t know that I have the right to education but now I know I have the right to education. This training has shown me the way I can approach my elders and leaders if I want to continue my education. I will look for the opportunity, if I get it, I will continue going to school.”

“I stopped going to school because I got married while I was in school. My husband promised to take me back to school but he didn’t, I have interest in education, but he doesn’t, because of that I left the marriage. Also because of my children, I don’t want a situation where they are in school and when they come home with homework, I don’t know how to help them, it’s one of the reasons why I ended my marriage because I want to go back to school.”
