Meet Bintu, an eleven-year-old pupil of a rural community school in Borno state.

Meet Bintu.

As a Primary 6 pupil, Bintu needed to keep learning to write her common entrance examinations. Stuck at home, Bintu began listening to the radio with her father and was excited at the announcement of the ACE Radio School during a random listen.

Since then, every Monday, he gives her his radio, and she, along with her friends or siblings listen to ACE Radio School to learn topics taught on Literacy, Numeracy and Science.

“Since listening to ACE Radio School, I have learnt letter sounds and addition”, she said. “I have also learnt the word “Benevolent”.

Bintu wants to be a doctor when she grows up. It is no wonder Science is her favourite subject both in School and on ACE Radio School. She enjoys reading and travelling and has come to enjoy listening to her favourite ACE Radio School teachers, Mrs E and Mallama Rukky.

“I love Mrs E because of how she explains and when she is teaching letter sounds, she sings songs… and I like Mallama Rukky, because I like how she teaches Science” she says.

Children like Bintu and her friends are part of the reason the ACE Radio School is here to stay. Thanks to Grundfos Foundation for sponsoring ACE Radio School. We are excited about the impact we are making as we bridge the educational gap during the national school closures.

You can help us reach more children like Binta by sponsoring the broadcast of ACE Radio School episodes in radio stations in FCT, Adamawa, Borno and Kano states. Call us on +2348096555710 or email us at [email protected]
