100 OUT OF SCHOOL GIRLS ENROLLED BACK TO SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

ACE Charity has been working with Malala Fund to advocate for the re-enrolment of 1200 Out-Of-School-Girls (OSGs) in Adamawa, Borno and Kano State. In September, in partnership with Leadway Assurance we have achieved a significant milestone in this project. Leadway Assurance committed to paying for 100 OSGs to return to Senior Secondary School and complete their education in Adamawa State.

During the outreach, Olubunmi Adeleye, Head of Corporate Communications and Aishat Bello-Garuba, Project Manager, Corporate Services Department, Leadway Assurance reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting these OSGs to ensure they complete their secondary education and have improved chances at a better future. Beyond paying their tuition, they also paid for all hidden expenses including uniforms, textbooks, sandals and so on. Each OSG received an ACE Charity’s #SchoolnABag containing essential school supplies also donated by Leadway Assurance to get them started.

We are thankful to Leadway Assurance for not only understanding the need to educate the girl child but making a three-year commitment to ensuring the OSG’s complete their senior secondary school education.

BUSINESS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN (BEPW5)

The fifth cycle of our Business Empowerment Programme for Women (in partnership with Transcorp Hilton) is already in its fifth month. Despite the challenges that come with learning, they have progressed well and are inching closer to the end of the programme. Watch this video to see what they had to say about the journey thus far.

POLICY DIALOGUE – ADAMAWA STATE.

This policy dialogue was third in a series of dialogues and stakeholder engagements for our Girl Child Education Project (GCEP) in partnership with Malala Fund. We had stakeholders from various organizations, government agencies, and Adamawa State Assembly present.  One of the key outcomes of the discussions was the Child Rights Act and the general consensus on the need to domesticate the act in the state. We aim to amplify the voices of the girl child and a milestone for us this year was the re-enrolment of 100 OSGs in Adamawa into Senior Secondary School (SSS), in partnership with Leadway Assurance Company Limited. There is a need for more partnerships to ensure favourable outcomes for the girl child, become a partner today.

ACE Charity Africa

ACE Charity is a non-governmental organisation established in 2010 and is dedicated to creating a realistic and effective difference in the lives of people across Africa, especially women and children. We do this through our two focus areas; Education and Training, and Economic Empowerment. Under our Education and Training focus, we provide access to quality alternative education for disadvantaged and out-of-school children in Northern Nigeria through ACE Radio School and Safe spaces.  We provide access to quality education for public schoolchildren through our Learning Resource Centers. Under our Economic Empowerment focus, we provide rural women entrepreneurs with small scale loans through our Women MicroCredit Programme. We empower young women to start their fashion design businesses though our Business Empowerment for Women Programme. We also conduct yearly seminars, workshops and youth empowerment programmes.
